Labor warned on gay rights stance
The Family First Party says gay rights issues could still affect the outcome in South
Australia's key marginal seats at the next Federal election.
That is despite gay marriage being officially banned yesterday after the Senate passed
the legislation with Labor's support.
But South Australian Family First MP Andrew Evans says Federal Labor is considering supporting
civil unions for gay couples.
Mr Evans is calling on Labor to declare where it stands on the civil unions, and says
it will direct preferences on the issue.
"Depends where Labor go on it, but I'll certainly be telling people where the various
people voted so they can see and make their own judgment," he said.
A spokesman for the shadow attorney-general has declined to comment.
